Lady Yuolanda Murray

 

First Lady Yuolanda D. Murray loves the A.M.E. Church and believes it can make the difference, for we "can do all things through Christ who strengthens us."

 

Sister Murray has held numerous positions in the Third Episcopal District to include West Virginia Conference YPD Director, Ohio Conference WMS President, Columbus District Church School Superintendent, and Third District WMS Third Vice President. 

 

Within the Third Episcopal District M-SWAWO+PKs she has served as the Ohio Conference President, Third District Secretary, Pittsburgh Conference President, and currently holds the positions of North Ohio Conference Secretary and Third District Vice President.  She has also had the opportunity to participate in the CONN-M-SWAWO+PK’s Leadership Planning Retreats in Hilton Head, SC; Cincinnati, OH; and the Bahamas, as well as attend the Clergy Family Awards Breakfast in 2002.

 

Sister Murray, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, matriculated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Studies with a German minor. A member of R.O.T.C., she was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, Military Intelligence Tactical Intelligence Officer, was stationed in the United States and Germany, attained the rank of   Captain, and received an honorable discharge after 11 years of service. She is an accomplished public and inspirational speaker, enjoys traveling, line dancing, acting, and performing Christian comedy, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

 

Sister Murray is proudly married to the Reverend James E. Murray, Jr. She has served as his helpmate at Allen Chapel, Charleston, WV; Quinn Memorial, Steubenville, OH; and the “Historic” St. James, Pittsburgh, PA. Currently they are blessed and honored to serve Greater Avery, Cleveland, OH.  They have three sons and six grandchildren
